My hubby and I are celebrating seven amazing years of wedded bliss! October 2, 2004 was a beautiful day to marry my best friend. I had an amazing, beautiful, stunning wedding. Family, friends, candlelight, roses, mums, pumpkins, violins....a dream come true! All the sights and smells of Fall still take me back to that day...the day I vowed to spend the rest of my life with the man I love....

Keep in mind...we are not professional cake decorators! Haha! I wanted to make Jaxon's first day of school extra special. I came upon many wonderful ideas, but I just loved this bus cake! Super, duper easy and tasty! I also included a picture of the breakfast Daddy made for the big Kindergartner on his first day....all of his favorite foods with a little something extra..Scooby Doo! My hubsicle is such a good daddy!!!

First Day!

I am soooo behind on my blog but thought I better get some pics posted of Jaxon's first day of Kindergarten! Can't believe he is in school full time, but it has been a week now so I suppose I better let it sink in.

The first day went exceptionally well, as has every day since then! He was definitely ready to start this adventure in life! Gramma Debbie came down for the day to watch the other kids so Daddy and I could get Jax off to school. We walked in with him, stayed for about 5 minutes, and then took off. He was so busy unloading his backpack, he didn't realize we left. Not a tear was shed from any of us...surprisingly. I think I got most of my crying out in the weeks that led up to school starting! Anyhow....Grams and I spent the morning making a school bus cake to celebrate the big occasion. We also ran downtown for a balloon bouquet. After picking Jax up, we had a party, complete with candles on the cake and singing "Happy First Day of School to You!" at Jaxon's request! I believe every little kid deserves a cake with candles more than once a year!

We are now into a great routine! Jax enjoys getting up in the morning, picking out his clothes and getting ready about 30 minutes earlier than needed. I am wondering if he really belongs to me!?!? :-) Actually, I am becoming quite the morning person, thanks to my happy early risers!

I will add that I think the one that took Jax going to school the hardest was the little brother. He misses "Toe" so bad during the day. Cries when we leave him at school in the morning, and then runs, with open arms, to Toe the minute he comes out the front door of the school. It pretty much turns this mama to mush. I am glad my little guys still think the world of each other! ;-)

I love my family. Need I say more? Probably not...but, I am going to. Last night, we gathered to celebrate Austin Wayne's 11th birthday. We were missing a few family members (this includes my close friends that are like family), but had a few "new" members there, extended (friends) members there....and it was a great time! Always warms my heart to spend time with the people that truly do care about me. I smiled all the way home, thinking of all the great times my family has. My side and Shane's. I also thoroughly enjoy any time we get together with all of Shane's family. They are just genuinely good people. My heart is warm and full today!

Gosh, I am a slacker when it comes to blogging! I won't even promise to get better at it because with (hopefully) nice weather on the way, I won't be on the computer as much. Anyhoo....here is the update on my beautiful little family-Life is treating us well! The boys are happy and healthy, Shane is still slaving away at work, but has had a little more time off than what we are used to, which makes me VERY happy! I just keep plugging away, doing full time day care, running Jaxon to preschool and various other activities. I look forward to the end of the school year so we have some time to relax!

Jaxon started tumbling and karate in January, and just recently had his first tumbling recital. He did a fantastic job at the recital, and I even got a nice little email from his instructor! He makes this mommy very proud! He also thoroughly enjoys karate and has already received his first stripe on his belt for knowing all of his punches! Now, we move onto the spring soccer season! This Saturday is the first game and Jax is pumped. He LOVES soccer!

Now the low down on Cash---He is THE FUNNIEST KID I KNOW!!! That little boy keeps us all laughing hysterically! His favorite things to say are, "I poop!"; "I stink!"; "I toot!"; "Mama, you poop?"; "Mama, you stink!" Seriously, it is the cutest thing to hear him talk because there are only a few things he says very clear, and they just happen to be about poop, toots and stink! Oh, and he also says, "Mama, where's Da?" constantly while Shane is gone. He LOVES his daddy!

Ooh, one more exciting thing we are looking forward to....Shane will be performing in Nashville in June!!! He will also have a booth at Fan Fair for 4 days! That is all we know for now. I will keep you posted as things develop. I am overly excited, because I think this is just what my husband needs after all he has been through the last couple of years. Music feeds the soul...

Ok, I best get on with my day. Really hoping the sun shines and the wind quits blowing! Have a great day, friends!

Wow! It's already been a month since my last post! Things have been pretty quiet around here. We all have slight colds, but have managed to stay away from the nasty stomach bug going around. My plan is to keep it that way! Excited that daylight savings, St. Patrick's Day, and spring are just around the corner! Sick of the cold temps and ready for sun and warmth!!!

The boys are doing good! Jax is still plugging away with preschool and enjoying it! Hard to believe we will be attending Kindergarten round-up in about a month. I know Jaxon will love school, but it is hard for this mama to think about not having him home with me all the time! Good thing I have a few months to come to terms with it!

Little Cash is busy as always! He is such a character and keeps us all in stitches! He is saying more and more words and phrases, his favorite being, "I'm stuck!" especially while going through the grocery store or walmart. He has taken a huge interest in Thomas lately, so I now have two little Thomas maniacs on my hands. Love it, though, because it is something they will play nicely together.

I have been slackin' with my photography so I don't have any fun pictures to post. Maybe next time!

The boys got a puppy! Gizmo is a Boston Terrier/Japanese Chin mix. He is a fun-loving little fella and the boys are enjoying him! I am not overly thrilled about having a puppy, but if it makes my angels happy...I'm game!

I started hand-written journals for each of my boys when I first found out I was pregnant with them. I did awesome updating them until around June of 2009 for Jax, and December of 2009 for Cash. I didn't journal a single thing for either of them in 2010. It shocked me and gave me a little anxiety when I realized I hadn't documented a thing for one whole year of their lives. BUT, then I realized I had...on my blog! Thank goodness!!! I was able to go back through all of my posts and see what kind of fun and amazing things my boys had done. I spent 2 hours last night and 2 hours this morning updating their journals. My hand hurts but my heart feels so much better! I vow to journal at the end of each month in 2011. So...with that said....I am off to find the pictures I want to post of our wonderful, magic, and fun-filled Christmas! Happy Monday and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I took this picture when Shane and I were in the Hills celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary. I am not lying when I say these were the only two heart shaped leaves on the ground, hidden under some vines. The others like this were not heart shaped. We thought it was pretty special, like a sign.....not sure of what, though. :0) Either way...very cool!

Fall Festival

I am a little late with this post because I forgot all about it! The Methodist Church here in town hosts a fall festival every year. There is a hay bale maze, petting zoo, pony rides, bake sale, face painting, chili feed, and a pumpkin patch. The boys had a blast running through the maze several times! I managed to get them to stop long enough to snap a few photos. They know it(taking pictures) is a requirement whenever we do something.....really, whenever we do anything! =)

Halloween

We had a very busy but fun Halloween! The boys enjoyed carving pumpkins and trick-or-treating. Well, kind of. The wicked witch (Uncle Damion) scared my little bat so bad he had to take a break from tick-or-treating. After Daddy calmed him down and gave him a little nap, I was able to take him to a few houses so he could still have a little fun. Jaxon loved going with all of his cousins. I am so glad he has them....I have fond memories of fun times with all of my cousins! Enjoy the pictures!

Jaxon had his first Halloween party at preschool last week! Last year's party was cancelled due to a snow day, so we were super excited for this year! I was able to spend the afternoon at the party, and had a blast helping out and taking pictures. They played several games, danced, did crafts, and ate some yummy, festive snacks! It was a great party!

Spooktacular at the Riverside Zoo was awesome this year! I think, more than anything, it was because it was a perfect evening weather wise! The boys enjoyed running through it with their cousins. I didn't get many pictures, as I was busy chasing my little bat all over the place! He keeps Mommy running!

We managed to get all of them to sit long enough for ONE picture together!
Jax was a ninja for this event. He had a hard time deciding between a vampire, dinosaur, or ninja, so we found a way to squeeze all of them in during the week!
Cash tried to sit on all of the pumpkins!

The BIG FIVE!!!

My amazing firstborn son turned five on October 14! I really can't grasp how fast time goes by. Yesterday he was a little 5 lb 12 oz peanut, and today he is FIVE! My little Jaxon was my first miracle, who made me a mommy....the one thing I wanted to be more than anything else in the world! He is one special little fella!

We celebrated his actual birthday by taking a trip to The Mammoth Site in Hot Springs. He thought that was the coolest place he has ever been to! I didn't get very many pictures, as the little brother and I had to wait outside after disrupting the guide many times! We ended the day with pizza and birthday cake at Gramma Debbie and Papa's house.

Saturday was the day for the big monster truck party! Several of Jaxon's little friends and family showed for the big event. All of the kids had a blast playing in the giant ball, running like crazy, and whacking the pinata. Jaxon claims this was the best birthday party ever! I love little kids and the way they think.... :0)

It was the coldest winter ever. - Many animals died because of the cold. The porcupines, realizing the situation, decided to group together. So they had to make a choice: either accept the quills of their companions or disappear from the Earth. Wisely, they decided to go back to being together. We signed Jaxon up for soccer this year and he is thoroughly enjoying it! They combine practice and games for his age group, so it is only on Saturday mornings. They do 6 games this fall and another 6 in the spring. They are a riot to watch!

I love, love, love this time of year SO MUCH, I felt like posting about it again! Fall is a season of love for me. Not only do I love it, I have had so many wonderful blessings happen in the fall! I got engaged, got married, gave birth to my amazing first born son (on the most beautiful day of the year...clear, blue skies and 70 degrees), and found out I was pregnant with my precious second born son. No, these did not all happen in the same year! ;0) Anyhow....I am feeling extremely blessed and in love today, with everything in my life!

P.S. Only one week away from my hubby and I escaping, for the WHOLE weekend, to celebrate our 6th anniversary in a place that is FULL of Fall deliciousness....sights, sounds, smells, food, and LOVE!!!! ;0)

After a long, stressful(on Mommy) search, we finally found a preschool for Jax to attend this year! It puts us on the road a couple of days out of the week, but he loves it so much I really don't mind! We were going to try home school preschool for the year, but Jaxon is too social, and really needs/loves to be around other kids. I am just so relieved we finally found a solution! I am going to savor this year, as next year he is off to the big K! *sniffle, sniffle*

A day at Dobby's!

September 11 and 12, Shane was asked to sing at Dobby's Frontier Town Fall Festival! He doesn't get the chance to perform often so we both agreed this would be worth taking time off for. We all enjoyed our time at Dobby's! I even tried a little homemade wine! Cash and Jaxon enjoyed running around, touring all the buildings, and watching Daddy perform. Cash even managed a few seconds on stage...until Mommy had to be a fun hater and pull him off! =0) Pretty sure I have a couple of little performers in the making!

Yes, I did have to Google the lyrics to "Elvira" to find out how to spell that! ;0) So, call us nerds, or whatever you want, but my hubby and I went to an Oak Ridge Boys concert Saturday night! It was an amazing show, far better than Tanya Tucker, who we saw earlier this year! Shane and I both have a love for good ol' classic country music. Most of you know that about me, a few of you don't. Anyhow, we had a great time, and if we ever get the chance to go see them again, we will FOR SURE do it! Ooh, I almost forgot....the piano player for the Boys is the same one that played on Shane's album...and he remembered Shane! We chatted with him for a few minutes after the show. Very nice fella! Here are a few pics, a little fuzzy, but the best I could do with my little camera.

Ok, so I was going to post a whole slew of posts and get caught up, but decided I was TOOOOO far behind. We have had a busy couple of months! Since my last post...Jaxon graduated from preschool, started and finished t-ball, Cash turned one, had an extra thumb removed from his right hand, Jaxon participated in his first junior rodeo, we all celebrated the 4th of July, spent a lot of time at Fort Rob, Cash got his first haircut, spent lots of time at the park, enjoyed the Heritage Days carnival and festivities, and most recently, took a trip to Omaha to welcome our new cousin and nephew, Kyle Winfield, into the world! Hopefully, someday, I will get a few pictures posted of our adventures! Hope you are all enjoying your summer! Only a couple of weeks left until school starts....

Friday, May 14, my mom, the boys, and I headed to Sheridan to visit Damion, Daunee', Lucas and Schultz. Unfortunately, both my boys were sick over the weekend, but we still had a great time. We picnicked in the park, went to Story for a picnic and a little playtime at their park, shopped a little, etc. Sunday evening, they all surprised me with a birthday cake and ice cream. It was nice to be remembered! Enjoy the pictures!

Jaxon's BIG day!

Jaxon was sooo excited to have a day with Mom and Dad, and without the little brother. We headed to the hills for monster trucks and Chuck E. Cheese! We arrived a little early so we could get pit passes and meet the drivers. The exciting part of the pit pass was a ride on Alien Attack! Jaxon was able to get an autograph and picture with each driver. His favorite was the pink one, Heartbreaker, but I think it was because the driver was a cute lil' blonde! The show was very loud, but tons of fun! After the monster trucks we hit Chuck E. Cheese, which is always a lot of fun! It was a great day with my little man, and I hope we get to do it again soon!

Easter was a lot of fun this year! The bunny visited our house in the early morning hours and hid tons of eggs all over the backyard! He filled the boys' baskets and left a huge Buzz Lightyear in the tree for Jaxon! We are still finding eggs in the yard...

As always, we try to celebrate holidays with both families. The first half of the day was spent at Uncle Greg's house in the country. The Grandma Bunny put on a massive egg hunt with cool prizes! The kids had a great time! The second half of the day was spent in Alliance at Shane's grandparents. Jaxon got to go on another egg hunt. It was a fun day full of good food and great company!

Did you know there was such a thing? Grandma Debbie found them in Rapid City. Easter eve, Jaxon dug a hole, all on his own, and planted his magic jelly beans. We awoke Easter morn', ran outside, and discovered his jelly beans had turned into giant lollipops! Jaxon was amazed! Mommy was amazed by the delight and surprise on her little boy's face!

Shark Attack!

Jaxon and several of his preschool buddies are big into sharks right now. We thought it would be fun to send a shark snack for Jaxon to share. We searched all of Hemingford, Alliance, had Grandma look in Sidney, and finally found gummy sharks in Crawford! I was going to add crushed graham cracker around the edge for sand and an umbrella, but I figured the shark would be exciting enough for the little ones. Jaxon was tickled to take the "oceans" to school and, from what I hear, the kids thought they were pretty cool!

Happy Valentine's Day a few days late! I haven't had much time to blog in the last week because I was busy taking care of two sick little boys. Jaxon just had a little cold but Cash was very sick. I thought he was at the peak of his sickness last Thursday, but Friday morning he woke up and quickly went downhill. I called the pediatricians office to see if they could call something in for him, but once the nurse heard his cough, she said we needed to come in right away. He was diagnosed with RSV, but thankfully his oxygen levels were good and he did not have to be hospitalized. We were sent home with a nebulizer and a decongestant. Friday through Sunday was very scary, he would cough and wheeze and have a hard time breathing. He has progressed everyday and today at his follow-up appt. his lungs were clear. He still has a yucky cough that can last up to 14-20 days. We will continue to use the nebulizer until the cough is gone.

We attempted Valentine's Day pictures...Jaxon blinked in all of his solo ones,and poor Cash was looking pretty rough. Oh well! We were still able to get a few cute ones!

I am joining my mom and Becky in posting things I can't live without. I will try to post something each day until Valentine's Day, but I bet I don't get that accomplished. First of all, I don't get too much time to be on the computer, and second, I am going out of town on Friday. I may double up on a couple of days to get the most important things posted.

So, I will start with my hubby. He is an amazing man. He gave me two beautiful children, and works his tail off so I can fulfill my dream of being a stay at home mommy! He is optimistic, non-judgemental, caring, loving, strong, faithful, funny... He is my everything, and I am so blessed to have him in my life! Love you, Babe!

Tanya and Deadwood

Friday afternoon, Shane and I dropped the boys off at Gammie's house and headed to Rapid City. We had a delicious dinner and drinks at Pirate's table and then headed to the Civic Center for the Tanya Tucker concert. Shane got us great tickets and we ended up right smack dab in front. We made friends with some fellow Tucker fans and had an awesome time, like the best time we have had in ages! It was a great show, and I had the time of my life singing along with Tanya and swaying to the music with my hubby!

After the concert, we went to Deadwood to spend the night and do a little gambling. Shane and I both got hooked on a penny Monopoly game and stayed out until 4 a.m.! We didn't win much, but we had a blast! After a few short hours of sleep, we made a quick stop in Rapid, and then headed back to Crawford to pick up the boys. Cash was being a little stubborn and refused to take a bottle, so we figured we better rescue Gammie!

It was an amazing weekend! Thanks to my hubby and Gammie for giving me a much needed break! Pretty sure the next one won't be coming until June, if I am lucky...

A couple of yummy recipes I made for a brunch Friday morning:

PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE FONDUE

1 Cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 Cup sugar
1/2 Cup milk
1/2 Cup peanut butter

heat all ingredients in a saucepan and transfer to a fondue pot

Definitely a 5 star!

CAPPUCCINO MUFFINS

2 1/2 C. flour
2/3 C. sugar
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 egg
1 1/3 C. buttermilk
3 tbsp canola oil
4 1/2 tsp coffee
2 tsp vanilla
12 Hershey kisses

Topping:
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon

In a lg bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, baking soda

In another bowl, beat eggs, buttermilk, oil, coffee, and vanilla until coffee granules are dissolved

Spoon 2 tbsp batter into muffin cups, place a kiss in the center, top with batter, sprinkle cinnamon and sugar mix over batter.

Bake at 425 for 16-20 minutes

I can't believe my little monkey is 7 months old today! He is the happiest little guy I know, and I feel so blessed to be able to spend every day with him. He isn't crawling yet, but he rolls all over and is kind of army crawling. He is very content to sit and play on the floor, as long as Mommy stays in close range. I had fun taking his pictures today...he is in the stage of wrinkling his nose...so stinkin' cute!

2. I read the Little House on the Prairie series while on bed rest when pregnant with Jaxon. I found this interesting to share because they were like a 4th grade reading level, but I enjoyed them immensely!

I am a slacker. Once again, I did not get Christmas cards out on time. I tried. Honest. I printed one, ran out of paper, refilled the paper tray, reattached the paper tray......wouldn't print. It kept telling me I was out of paper. Whatever. Soooo......I gave up and decided I would send out a Happy New Year card. I told myself they had to be out by January 5th. I failed again. Blogging is cheaper anyway...

Christmas '09 favorites...

We had a wonderful Christmas this year, or should I say last year?! The Kennedy side celebrated a few days early out at Greg's place, while Damion, Daunee' and Lucas were home for a visit. The cousins had a blast playing together and opening gifts!

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were spent in our home, as a nice little blizzard came through the area and snowed us in! We were able to visit Shane's grandma here in town, as well as his uncles and aunt on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day, later on as the the wind died down a little, we ventured to Alliance to Shane's other grandparents. We only stayed a couple of hours, as the weather was much worse this direction and we didn't want to be on the roads too late.

Even though we didn't get to see as much family as we would have liked, it was a great Christmas! We were healthy, happy, safe, warm, and well fed!;) Enjoy the pictures...I really did take several of Jaxon too, I just didn't post them because he kept making horrible faces.

Fort Robinson Historical Christmas Dinner

Saturday night we attended the 15th Annual Historical Christmas Dinner at Fort Robinson. The theme this year was Celebrating Christmas 1935. My mother did a fabulous job with the decorations, especially the fresh greenery and the beautiful chandeliers. She is soooo talented in that area....wish she would've passed some of that on to me.

I, along with Phaedra, had the pleasure of directing the Itty Bitty Kids Choir...11 itty bitty children, ages 3 and 4. They did an excellent job performing for a crowd of 200+. At the very end, Santa Claus came out and filled their pockets with candy and gave each child an ornament, as was done in 1935. My little Jaxon was one of the performers and made his mommy very, very proud!

My mom and I took the boys to see Santa at the Hemingford fire hall last week. He was a very good Santa, and the set they had for him was very festive! Jaxon wasn't really sure what to ask for, so he asked for the same thing he did last year...Optimus Prime. Then he got a little worried afterwards when what he really wanted came to mind. We told him he will see Santa again in Crawford and can make sure he gives him his wish list. Cash was up next and just sat there like a little champ. He looked over at Mama and gave us a very cute little grin. I am pretty sure all he told Santa was that he wasn't sharing any milk with him! =) It was a great time, and we are so thankful and blessed that Grammie Debbie was able to go with us!

Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year. We headed to Uncle Greg's first thing in the morning to prep for the first big meal of the day. Jaxon had a great time playing with his cousins! It was a beautiful 60 degree day, so the kids spent a lot of time running outside. Those attending were Jaxon, Cash, and I; Grammie Debbie and Papa Jeff; Jeremy, Cherokee, Austin and Adrianne; and Greg and Emma. Damion and Daunee' stayed in Sheridan with Baby Lucas, beings he was only 5 days old. Daddy stayed home and slept after working all night.

Later in the afternoon, the boys and I came back home, picked up Shane, and headed to Alliance to Grandma Marge and Grandpa Larry's house. Once again, Jaxon had a great time running and playing with his cousin Sam. I am not even sure I can name everyone that was there, but there was a lot!

By the time the day was over we were all stuffed and tired! It was a great day with family...we have so much to be thankful for!

Baby Lucas made his appearance at 6:14 this morning! His mommy had to push for over three hours....but they were able to avoid a c-section! He weighs 9 lbs 4 oz and is 21 3/4 inches long! They are doing well, just super tired. I can't wait to get my hands on him and kiss those chubby little cheeks! I am sure my mom will post some good pics on her blog later...

We had a great time this year trick or treating with our family and friends! Jaxon went back and forth on what he wanted to be and finally settled on Batman. Cash was originally going to be a monkey, but then I found this adorable Lil' Monster costume and couldn't resist! I guess this is all you are going to get for now, as my lil monster is screaming for me to come take care of him!

1) Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

2) I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

3) There is a great need for a sarcasm font.

4) How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

5) I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.

6) MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

7) Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

8) I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

9) Bad decisions make good stories

10) I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me
if I want to save any changes to my ten page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

11) I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Dammit!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?

12) I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

13) As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists.

14) I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

15) I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay.

Today is Grandma Vickie's 50th birthday. Jaxon wants to send balloons to Heaven but there is no place in town to buy any. Bummer. I am sure she will still enjoy them, even if they are a day or two late.

Four years ago I became a mother. It has been the most amazing four years of my life! Jaxon is very excited to be turning four! When he got up this morning he asked if he was bigger now, as in taller, so he stood up and I said, "Wow! You grew overnight!" He stomped his feet and said, "I can stomp like a 4yr old now, not a 3 yr old." Then he went potty and said, "I have to potty on a bigger toilet now that I am 4, not 3." When his dad walked into the living room Jaxon said, "Did I wake you up when I stomped, because I am big now that I am 4 and I stomp loud." We asked him what special breakfast he wanted and he picked a bowl of Fruit Loops without any milk, and when he started to eat he said to me, "I eat like a 4 yr old now instead of a 3 yr old!"

I am hoping to get more pictures up by the end of the day, but it may not get done because we have some celebrating to do! The plan for the day is to go to Jaxon's first p/t conference, make cupcakes with the big 4 yr old, open a couple of presents, and take Jaxon to dinner wherever he wants to go. As of last night, he wanted to go to Pizza Hut in Chadron.

A few more cute things Jaxon has said this morning:

"Mom, I love it when I am already four."
"I won't make a mess in my bedroom now that I am four."
"I can learn like you now that I am four."
"Hey Mom, do you think I am big enough to drive the van?"

In the collage I posted, Jaxon got to wear his Transformer shirt to school, which I don't normally allow. He also got some new Bumblebee play shoes that he insisted he wear to match the shirt. Of course he made me take a pic of those!

Yummy slow-cooker recipes

My kids might be filthy, as well as my house, but Shane is keeping us well fed as I recover from surgery. Here are a couple of recipes he has used, and I must say they are pretty tasty!

Beef Diablo

4 lbs. pot roast
3 potatoes, peeled/sliced
1 onion, sliced
2 tbsp. flour
1 tbsp. prepared mustard
1 tbsp. chili sauce
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. vinegar
1 tsp. sugar

Trim all excess fat from roast. Place potatoes and onion in bottom of crock pot. Make a smooth paste of flour, mustard, chili sauce, Worcestershire, vinegar and sugar. Spread over top of roast. Place roast over potatoes and onions. Cook and cover on low setting for 10-12 hours(high 5 to 6).

Cheesy Meat Loaf

17 cheese crackers
1 sm. onion, finely chopped
2 tbsp. green pepper, minced
1/4 c. chili sauce
1/2 c. milk
2 eggs, slightly beaten
3/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef

Crush crackers with rolling pin until crumbled. In mixing bowl, combine crumbs with onion, green pepper, chili sauce, milk, eggs, salt and pepper. Mix in ground beef. Form into 6 or 7 inch round loaf. Place in crock pot. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.

Thought I would take a minute and let everyone know how things are going. I am feeling pretty good, just a little sore. My mom is still here taking care of all of us...we would be lost without her! It is a little hard with Cash because I can't lift him yet. I am able to feed him, but that is about it. I had some extra bruising so it will be a few days before I can pick him up.

Jaxon has been a little trooper. He has been putting my slippers on for me and bringing me little things I need. I think he might be wearing Grammie out a little, as he tears the house up as fast as she can clean it up!

I have had great support from family and friends! Wonderful meals and goodies, flowers, movies, etc. Thank you all so very much! Surgery is a lot more tolerable when you have an awesome support system!

Just have to throw this in...even though I am stuck in the house, I am NOT enjoying this snow! I want fall back! The only good thing that may come out of this is that my mom just might have to stay another night! =) I hear the roads are horrible!

Jaxon's BIG weekend

Jaxon had been asking for a week if he could go stay the night with Grammie Debbie, so Friday night we loaded up and headed to Crawford! His overnight stay turned into the whole weekend, mainly because he had no desire to come back home on Saturday! He got to go out to breakfast, to Taylor's football game, and then shopping at Wal-Mart. He somehow talked his grandma into a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costume, and various other things, I'm sure. His latest infatuation is the Ninja Turtles, Leonardo being his favorite. Saturday night, Austin stayed at Grammie and Papa's too and Jaxon was ecstatic. He LOVES Austin! They spent most of Sunday at the shop playing in the junk with Papa. When my mom and I pulled up to bring them lunch, Jaxon got all upset because he thought it was time to leave. Needless to say, by the time we left to head home, Jaxon was covered in dirt and grease from head to toe! He thought it was great! After a nice long soak in the tub, he is sacked out...in his Ninja Turtle costume.

I decided to take Cash's 12 week picture while he was sleeping. He looked so content, until the flash went off, of course! I can't believe we are approaching his 3 month birthday!

Shane found a salamander at work last night and brought it home for Jaxon. He somehow escaped in my kitchen but was quickly found and placed in his new home. Jaxon thinks he is the "best pet in the whole world!" I just hope he stays in his little home and doesn't die unless Shane is home!

We survived the first week of preschool and are on to the next. Jaxon had a good time last week but wasn't so sure he wanted to go back today. Of course, when I went and picked him up, he had a huge smile on his face and asked he if he could stay longer! I felt a little better after that! The report from the teacher about his first week was that he is a little sensitive, which we all know, and that he doesn't like to come in from recess, no surprise...what kid really does?! All weekend long he told me he didn't want to go because it is boring. I thought that didn't start until around the 4th grade or so...

Friday was Cash's 2 month check-up with Dr. G. Once again she was blown away by his growth! He weighs 13 lb 5 oz and is 23 inches long. That puts him in the 90th percentile for weight and 75th for height. He was over 2 lbs more and 1 inch longer than his big brother was at the same age, and we thought he was a chunk! Jaxon also got to see Dr. G because he was complaining of a sore throat. He had a swollen lymph node and it(his throat) was really red so she swabbed him for strep and it was negative. She upped his allergy med and he is doing much better! Then it was my turn to see the doc. I am going to have my gallbladder removed sometime in September. I am waiting for the nurse to call back and get it scheduled. I wanted to waited until November but the doctor wouldn't go for it!

Yesterday we headed to Crawford to have lunch and go horseback riding. Jaxon had fun with his cousins, as he always does. He enjoyed riding the horses and running around out in the country! Cash sat on Nugget with Grammie just long enough to get a picture.

We are getting geared up for Husker football season! My hubby has made me into a HUGE fan of the ol' Huskers, and I am pumped for the first game! Shane will be taking the day off so we can watch it, hopefully with some of our fellow Husker fans!

BUBBLE PIZZA

Ingredients:
1-1/2 pounds ground beef
1 can (15 ounces) pizza sauce
2 tubes (12 ounces each) refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
1-1/2 cups (6 ounces) shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
Directions:
In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Stir in pizza sauce. Cut each biscuit into quarters; place in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. Top with the beef mixture.
Bake, uncovered, at 400° for 20 minutes. Sprinkle with cheeses. Bake 5-10 minutes longer or until cheese is melted. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving. Yield: 6-8 servings.

I also added onions and green peppers. It was delicious, even Jaxon had two huge servings! Very easy to prepare, too!

First Day of Preschool...9 weeks...

Jaxon had a great first day of preschool! "I had fun playing ghosts with my friends!" He just told me to put that on here. Anyhow, we all made it through the day and are ready for tomorrow! Grammie Debbie made it down for the big event, even though she worked all night. Thanks, Grammie! You are the best!!! My camera battery died before we made it to the classroom so I will post more pictures after Grammie sends them to me! Off to put my babies to bed...
